BREED HISTORY

The Giant Schnauzer developed in Germany. Schnauze means muzzle in German, so this breed was named for its characteristic shaggy muzzle. The Giant Schnauzer is thought to be the result of crossbreeding of the Standard Schnauzer, the Great Dane, and the Belgian Cattle Dog. But the Giant Schnauzer may simply be an enlarged model of the Standard Schnauzer.Originally cattlemen used the breed to drive their cattle to market when the cattle driving died ou they were then used as guard dogs. They trained as police dogs, and continue in this role in many European countries today.

The Giant Schnauzer is calmer than the Miniature. This affectionate dog loves children and makes an excellent pet. They are alert, wary of strangers, and very reliable, The Schnauzers are excellent guard dogs. This breed requires firm authority and a lot of attention.

Behavior
Schnauzers should not be confined indoors. Giant Schnauzers need space and considerable exercise to stay fit and maintain their mental health. They do not moult and therefore need considerable attention paid to grooming
